Seriously, y'all. I feel like John Cusack in High Fidelity when he rips the tape out of the recording deck and screams, "WHEN IS THIS GONNA STOP?!"
Sent off my application for the illustrator position yesterday. I checked up on a couple positions today, and I was rewarded with impersonal form e-mails thanking me for my interest. I will be applying for an Assistant Editorship with Metropolitan Media Group here shortly, but they want 2 years of experience. Technically, I have 5 years of experience in the professional field... but freelance just doesn't cut the mustard with these people. Woe. Woe and toil. Time to hit up the freelance market some more. Momma's got bills to pay.
Breaking in is so hard. You get out of college, and everyone wants you to have five years of experience, or 2-3 years of internship experience. What? They failed to mention that in my college-prep courses. Was I asleep the day the guidance counselor came in and said, "Oh. P.S. A bachelor's still isn't enough."
Bah humbug, and I mean it.
Someone hire me already. I have talent!
