Anti-Dating Mix!

Angst of ages, flow forth to thee, in the form of a playlist from me!
</bastardized-hymn>

*Now, normally I would trim this into an actual mix and then coordinate every single song to flow into one another, but because there are so many good ones I said fuck it. Angst is best served in large servings that clash with anything and everything. So here you have it. 57 songs detailing why dating sucks. :) This playlist traverses multiple genres: punk, electronic, acoustic, etc. There are different moods: humorous, angreh, graceful, emotastic, etc. Something for everybody either individually or in two lovely little zip files!

:) Thanks. If the single downloading gets too tedious you can always click the top of the list and just download the zip. I know uploading them was tedious, hah.

"No Children" IS ONE OF MY FAVORITE SONGS EVER! I didn't know you liked the Mountain Goats...you have no idea how happy that makes me.
I'm stealing a bunch of these, yay!

My flatmate got me started on the Mountain Goats, but I do love them so.

Hooray! Did you notice Glendora in there too? I kind of figured you'd enjoy that one too. Heh...

*pounces on.* Only because I've heard of a few of these artists, I took both mixes. :D So I'm expanding my library now.

Thanks so much for doing this!

I think I'm in love with Madeleine Peyroux's voice. Seriously, that song gave me chills.

Omg... that song is so bad. I can't listen to it without laughing raucously. It's soooo middle school hate-note. Angsty teen poetry. Aahhahahhahaha.

I have so done that. It once took me four hours to write an e-mail to Matt, which is weird... because I can kick out a 5 page paper in an hour.

Most of the artists aren't really my cuppa, but I had to grab "Friend Is A Four Letter Word." It's a dark, nifty little piece that I'm familiar with because (oddly enough) of a fan-made music video. Go fig', eh?

I also had to listen to the start of "In Too Deep" because, you know, making sure it's not some lame Genesis cover. *cough*

Yay for music therapy! =)

Out of curiosity, what is your cuppa? I like to think that I listen to pretty much everything... wanna rec me sommat?

Also, some of these songs embarass me. (e.g. anything Alanis, Eamon (but it's sooooooo funny. I can't stay depressed when I hear that song. I roll with laughter against my own will, etc.)However, because of their subject matter or sheer emo-tasticness... I had to do it.

It's weird, but I think I'm heading into that dreaded stage where very little "new" material interests me. Sad, huh? And me just barely 34. Bah.

Artists I dig include Vast (the eponymous first album and "Nude" are both extraordinary), Genesis (Peter Gabriel's and Tony Banks' solo stuff, too), Pet Shop Boys (let's not go into how straight guys aren't supposed to like them, or some crap; I like me some smart dance music), Midnight Oil (best Australian export ever), and I'm slowly getting into some J-pop-type stuff like I've (Kotoko, Lia, and other synth-pop banner artists) and Home Made Kazoku (which is weird considering I'm not really into hip-hop ordinarily) and Yuki Kajiura (her "Fiction" album is available stateside, and absolutely worth it)... and I could go on.

I can't really get into a lot of the "snot-nosed punk band" artists littering the radio landscape, which includes Green Day and their ilk. Nothing against them 'per se', it just doesn't do anything for me.

I totally understand. I had a huge fallout with punk a couple years ago, and I just brought out my Dookie cd again last month for the first time in years. I'm not nearly as into the punk scene as I was during my angsty teenage years, but even then I preffered (and still do) the Clash, Dead Kennedys, and other legit punk bands. Pop punk typically irritates me senseless... in fact, pop pretty much irritates me senseless.

You might like some of the Jimmie's Chicken Shack? Particularly the song String of Pearls. If you like acoustic you'd probably like Jose. He's kind of Kings of Convenience-esque.

Also, you totally made me realize that I don't have much of my "older" music on my computer. Huh... *introspects*
