Goodmorning, Memes!

I just got all my homework done! Hooray! Now I'll admit to doing do what I've been wanting to be doing! Memes!

1. Grab the nearest book.
2. Open it to page 161.
3. Find the fifth sentence.
4. Post the text of the sentence in your journal along with these instructions.
5. Don't search around and look for the coolest book you can find. Do what's actually next to you.

"The party and the Krikkit warship locked, in their writhings, a little like two ducks, one of which is trying to make a third duck inside the second duck, while the second duck is trying very hard to explain that it doesn't feel ready for a third duck right now, is uncertain that it would want any putative third duck to be made by this particular first duck anyway, and certainly not while it, the second duck, was busy flying."
- from Life, the Universe and Everything by Douglas Adams.

Douglas Adams = high art, y'all.

Also, because this one appeals to me:
Step 1: Put your MP3 player or whatever on random.
Step 2: Post the first line from the first 20 songs that play, no matter how embarrassing the song.
Step 3: Post and let everyone you know guess what song and artist the lines come from.
Step 4: Strike out the songs when someone guesses correctly.
Step 5: Looking them up on Google or any other search engine is CHEATING!

3. I don't know the title but it's PDQ Bach. I even remember some of the lyrics.

Nellie is a nice girl/But Hannah is a horrible prude/Paul is a policeman/but Peter is a filthy and rude young man.

Is it one of the Ground Rounds?

You win! It's just simply, Nelly is a nice girl, but yes it is one of the rounds!

You're the first person I've met who actually knows who PDQ Bach is.

13. Bohemian Rhapsody!
17. It's A Hit!
Mar. 24th, 2006 02:01 am (UTC)
Correct on the first, but it's the wrong title for #17. Right band, though.
Mar. 24th, 2006 02:25 am (UTC)
Oh! Shit! I knew that! I'm an idiot! Portions for Foxes!
Dude, I'm seriously hating myself right now. THEY'RE MY FAVORITE BAND EVER. I KNOW THAT ANSWER.
Mar. 24th, 2006 02:25 am (UTC)
Hah, it's k! I knew you knew it, plus I've confused song names before.

13: Queen -- Bohemian Rhapsody

Otherwise, I'm stumped :D

12. Milla Jovovich - Don't Fade Away

13. Queen - Bohemian Rhapsody

17. Metric - Combat Baby

20. Wheatus - Teenage Dirtbag

...that's all I've got.
Mar. 23rd, 2006 10:52 pm (UTC)
More than most, but #17 isn't Combat Baby. ;)
Mar. 23rd, 2006 11:22 pm (UTC)
Oh, dur - it's "Portions For Foxes" by Rilo Kiley.

Can I blame this on the fact that those lyrics remind me of combat? Sort of?
Mar. 23rd, 2006 11:23 pm (UTC)
You can... but I don't know if I'll believe it. ;)
Mar. 23rd, 2006 06:21 pm (UTC)
MP3 Player
I cannot believe that I don't have an MP3 player yet. I'm still walking around with my portable CD player.

Do me a favor? I have a diet quiz posted on my LJ that I need to get more hits on before tomorrow. Can you take the quiz (unless you have already)?

Your Birthday is coming up soon!

Poll #696083 Calorie Quiz

Quiz results will be posted on Friday.

Re: MP3 Player
I just used Itunes for my song list. =)

I already took it. :) I was the first to do so, actually.

Yes it is, thanks for noticing!

fourteen is "you and i both" by jason mraz.

i hadda sing the song in my head to get to the chorus cos i haven't listened to him in forevarrrr...
Mar. 24th, 2006 01:57 am (UTC)
Hah, that's awesome. I thought making it the first line of the song's chorus might be easier, but I reconsidered.
Mar. 24th, 2006 04:26 am (UTC)
7 = We Will Become Silhouettes by Postal Service!!!

and 16 looks SO familiar it's bugging me but I just can't pinpoint it. I want to say Garbage's "So Like a Rose" but I'm not wholly convinced.

Hitchhiker's Guide love! (Except I really do not remember all that duck-talk.)
Mar. 24th, 2006 11:53 am (UTC)
True! I have like.... 6 versions of this song. Not even joking.
Mar. 24th, 2006 04:29 am (UTC)
Addendum: I totally cheated and looked to see what 16 was and I'm utterly ashamed I didn't get it right. They're one of my favorite bands, and I've only met the singer, oh FOUR TIMES. Duh! *repents for being a bad fan*
Mar. 24th, 2006 11:53 am (UTC)
I really like 'em. They filled the void Ben Folds Five left when they broke up. *le sob*

I really only JUST got North though, and I was a little disappointed because it sounded almost identical to Leaving through the Window but with different words.
Mar. 24th, 2006 11:43 pm (UTC)
Get Andrew's solo album as Jack's Mannequin Everything in Transit. It's the best stuff he's ever written.
Mar. 24th, 2006 05:43 am (UTC)
2. They Don't Want Music, Black Eyed Peas
4. Circles, Soul Coughing
11. Perhaps, Perhaps, Perhaps. Cake's version, I think, but alot of people do this song. (cuz it rocks!)

Ding ding!
