Top 5 List Meme
You post a topic, list, category, whatever, in my comments section. (examples: "5 Sexiest Things About Ron Weasley" or "Top 5 things to drink"). I'll reply, and possibly post the answers to all Top 5 suggestions in a separate post.

Five of My Guilty Pleasures
1. I have a weakness for McDonalds fries. They're disgusting and horrible, but they're ridiculously tasty.

2. I love, absolutely love sushi. I never have the money for it, but I love it and I could eat it any day... I fight with the temptation a lot.

3. I love sleeping late. I really don't like giving in to sleep... It's freakish, I know. But I generally wait until I'm totally exhausted before I go to bed. I know it's sloth-like, and even though I love watching the sun come up (which I normally do before I go to bed), waking up *just* before noon is something I do enjoy.

4. I like Something Corporate. What?

5. I am really not supposed to eat chocolate. It's horribly bad for me, and yet I still do. I always feel like I'm killing myself when I do it, but I see a truffle and I can't resist.

And finally,
Reply to this post, and I'll tell you one of the reasons why I like/love/adore you. Then put this in your own journal, and spread the love.

Anyway, you replied...so in the spirit of the last meme...

I really adore the fact that you were willing to let us levitate you from a rock climbing harness, despite the obvious logistical problems that definitely would have caused.

1. Faith
2. Jan. 24, 1985 mothafuckas.
3. The Humboldt Abode
4. Beagle smooshes, arts and crafts, Rhys Ifans, tequila, etc.
5. I'm the only gay Eskimo.
6. Yes.
7. Plus: Kate Winslet icon! Minus: You. (mwahaha.)
8. I like music with, like, all of my soul. It's a bit tragic, really. This means that I have a book for you to read, because we read it in Honors Seminar and I was one of the few that liked it, and the other people who did were all musicians. (It's a book about a woman who writes a symphony, and the description of the debut performance made me cry.)
9. Er, no. Of course not. That's ridiculous. Why do you ask?
10. Bed. Or on horseback. Or in California. Or anywhere my family is.
11. "Listen, my friends, to the lad on the whistle, his fingertips timid and cold." Or anything, really, anything by the Mountain Goats.
12. November through the early part of January, because whee, holidaze!!
13. Really? I can't honestly say. All the good music I've discovered this year is older. But it's sure as hell not Coldplay.
14. Probably that reggae concert Randy told us about last spring.

Recommendations:
1. You still haven't seen Rosencrantz and Guildenstern.
2. Grace Notes, that book I mentioned earlier.
3. The Mountain Goats, Nickel Creek's "Spit on a Stranger," and the Los Angeles Guitar Quartet's Air & Ground.

Plus:
1. Even when I think I can't stand you anymore, we always make each other laugh and think there's no one else in the world I'd rather spend most of my day with.
2. My eyes and my intelligence.
3. You know I don't have one on hand. I was going to grab my senior pictures when I was back home, but I forgot.
4. NO! < / Norm Coleman >

Top Five Things That Make You Feel Like a Pretty, Pretty Girl (because I was going to do this in my own journal a few weeks ago and ask for everyone else's, and I forgot.)

Top Five Things that Make Me Feel Like a Pretty, Pretty Girl

1. Straight hair. I love straightening my hair, and it might just be the change but I always feel 10 billion times more confident when I actually take the time to straighten my hair.

2. Clothing from Express. It just...unf. They know clothes, man. They know clothes.

3. A good shave. Even if it's the middle of winter, and you're only going to wear jeans anyway... a clean shave can make you feel like a goddess.

4. Fabulous Shoes. The Monolo, he agrees.

5. Curling my eyelashes. I rarely do it, but it makes me look all cheerful and doe-eyed. Hah. My eyes are huge.

Alternatively,

Alcohol makes me feel pretty. So does hanging around loads of really ugly people. :)

And the reason I love you...

Because I genuinely enjoy your constant company, and I would've never thought that'd been possible with anyone because I am, well, prone to bouts of crankiness. Though we may get testy with one another, I can honestly say that I have never wished to feed you to the Ravenous Bugblatter beast of Trall. We have a truly beautiful thing right here.

3. Twirly chair in front of Basil, in the 'reading room', the house
4. Not having to wear heavy coats at the moment, chocolate fudge, privacy, robes, pretty pajamas, the word auletrides, and knowing that the word "nice" used to be an insult.

6. Nope, I just sometimes respond here to certain vibes telling me how all my people are conversing at the moment.

14. We'd see a play at some posh joint, and have a limo pick us up so we could abuse it by having it take us for coffee/chantico and wherever the hell else we felt like going and gambolling. I love that I still haven't dropped the "NO PORN, WHITNEY" and you still talk to me. You are a fantastic human being, precious.

I'm kinda surprised you didn't suggest some obscenely difficult Top Five list that would send my brain into a horrific tangle of joy.

Oh right, top 5s! I'd rather forgotten, wot with the long list. Hrmm...

Obscenely difficult, you say? Top 5 Reasons Why You Were Not Born in the Wrong Era/Country/Universe, Except that You Totally Were.

Or failing that, the Top 5 First Names You Should Have Had.

And as for the above comment, I've moved on from active to passive protest. See icon for details. :)

I will rise to the challenge of both!

Top 5 Reasons Why I Was Not Born in the Wrong Era/Country/Universe, Except that I Totally Was
1. Were I in an alternate era/country/universe, I would be without livejournal and forced to write in paper journals, which I do anyway.

2. Were I in an alternate era/country/universe, I would not have access to all my fabulous music, except for the part where I play a variety of instruments and also sing, and collect antiquated forms of musical recordings (e.g. LP)

3. Were I in an alternate era/country/universe, there would be no video games ever, but there would be real games instead.

4. Were I in an alternate era/country/universe, I would not harbor righteous indignation and spite aimed at our president, but I'd probably be pissed off anyway about the lack of my personal rights in a previous era/country.

5. Were I in an alternate era/country/universe, I wouldn't be pursuing a career in writing, but I firmly believe that if you are born with an inclination to do something it won't matter if you can afford to pursue or not, you'll have to do it to keep yourself alive.

I must iterate:
I took the quiz at the bottom of the page and the movie of my life will be...

"Shane: Harmony amidst Madness", directed ever so kindly by Clint Eastwood.

I just found that so bloody apropos that I had to share. *cher*
