Minneapolis residents living on the 28th block of Humboldt Ave S are in danger of suffering severe flood damage to their cars and homes.
How do I know this? I live here. We have no sidewalk! The street is flooded, and when I say flooded I mean holy-damn that's a lot of water. There's a good 20 feet between the stoop of my apartment building and the road, and it is submerged. One of our neighbors has a new porsche that is currently full of water.
Now WeatherBug has been known to call wolf in terms of flash flooding, but this time it wasn't just a-whistlin' Dixie. What amazes me is that cars are still blazing through it, even though the water is clearly - at the very least - up to the bumper of your standard car when the car is not in motion. When moving, water pours into the grill of the car. They generally get to about halfway down the street - into the deepest water, slam on the breaks and then wrestle with their options for a good 45 seconds. There is gargling. There is steam. This is very amusing. I got your Tuesday evening entertainment right here, I tell you what.
And also, because I can't resist the urge to make this more like a Breaking!News scrolling marquee...
Water, water everywhereomg.
ETA Pimping: There really isn't anything quite like watching the moist mayhem from the safety of your picture windows on the second floor with a hot mug of Nestle Abuelita.
