dont panic

This week has been a blur. A frantic time-vortex that sucked away the vast majority of my energy and self confidence. Okay, so that's not entirely true... but it's been busy and I feel behind.

I really hope it's just the culture shock of switching from doing whatever I wanted when I wanted to do it ... to waking up at 7:20 every day and then being on my feet until at least 6. I really... don't know how this semester is going to work out. We shall see, I suppose.

I'm really sorry I've been such a bad commenter lately. I still read! I read instead of updating! Nevertheless, my apologies m'dearies. I still ♥ you.

In which I discuss what is currently in my mouth...

I love food, guys. It's true. Eating is probably one of the most enjoyable experiences ever.

I also looooove sushi. I am drawn to it like a moth to the flame. I can't resist. So when I found out that there's a sushi joint literally right next door to Tiger Oak, I almost squeeled with uncooked glee. I've been daydreaming about sushi all week.

Now my time has come and... there is nothing more orally disappointing than mediocre sushi. And to be fair, I haven't tried the Eel yet (because Eel is my absolute favorite and if it is anything less than satisfying I will kill) but the California roll practically fell apart on me! It's completely bland, there's too much rice. And I mean, I got the Cali-roll as a "just in case" good ol', safe standby! The spicy salmon isn't horrible, but it certainly isn't fabulous. I could've gotten this at the sushi-deli at my grocery store.

In short:

Hey, Wasabi? You need to kick up your game. Just sayin'. Snazzy as your interior is, the food is lacking and there are several different restaurants in this fine city that are more than capable of picking up that slack.

A Day no Time would Die

So... I made some calls this morning. I'm waiting on callbacks. I tried the numbers a few minutes ago, and no dice. Thus, I moved onto my next project.

I am, and have been for the past 4 hours, writing the events calendar for Michigan Meetings & Events Magazine... and there's a pretty good chance I'm going to get an aneurysm from this.

We don't have enough "stuff" from our usuals to fill it, so I've been bopping around every single Michigan CVB trying to figure out if they have something vaguely professional on their events calendar. Now, I'm from small-town Wisconsin, so I realize this might be the pot calling the kettle black... but Michigan (excepting Grand Rapids and Detroit) is a cultural wasteland. When your tourism employees are boasting weekly trap shoots? Yeah... it's time to throw in the towel.

I think I need a good, stout kick to the head.
