Why yes, I am still awake.

I left as dawn was breaking, and by the time I was driving past the airport the sky was a strangely beautiful star-studded cascade of oranges to greens, down to blues, and whatever was left of night. It was stunning, with the giant metalic beasts roaring low over the highway, criss-crossing and landing gracefully with their bright lights tugging the sun along. I began racing daybreak to downtown, and made good time. As I approached the skyline the sleek windows were just beginning to reflect the cerulean backdrop - just faint, flickering glimmers in between the few lit squares.

When I got into my neighborhood I had to slow down; now, day is quite caught up with me. The horizon is almost powder blue, but I can still see Venus, bright like burning magnesium. Sometimes I forget how beautiful morning can be.
