Right then...

So I need some cheering. So, f-list, give me your top 5 list of things that make you feel better, practically without fail! Go!

Also, if you want, suggest a mix theme, and I'll come up with ten songs that fit the bill.

Puppies are fantastic. Fuzz therapy. I like burying my face in their fur. Reeeally little puppies are the best, because they bite your finger softly with their sharp little tooths and make the cutest noises evarrrr.

Plus, Fuzz!

Shoe shopping with the gay men I know is dangerous. I would have no monies left.

Also, SaTC is a reeeally good remedy for a lot of things. I'm glad I have it on Demand on HBO, or else I probably would have cut a bitch by now.

The other night Faith and I were laughing at Gucci because she's so short. She didin't appreciate it very much, but we thought it was a riot. We were also drunk.

Apr. 21st, 2006 07:24 am (UTC)
I don't know if I can list a true "all time" top 5, but here are five things I can think of off the top of my head during the midnight hour:

1. Out-of-the-blue call/card/email/message/smokesignal/whatever from one of my close friends.
2. Tootsie Rolls. I remember my chagrin when the mondo-huge bars went from 45c to 50c. Yes, I'm that old.
3. Bottle Fairy. (Anime, 13 quarter-hour episodes.) You cannot resist the cute. The (wacky, punny, oddly educational) cuteness owns your soul.
4. Older Pet Shop Boys B-sides and remixes. Never underestimate the power of nostalgia when used as a reminder that not everything in your past is made of suck. (See also: Early Genesis albums, mid-80s Peter Gabriel, and so on.)
5. Dragonsinger, by Anne McCaffrey. It's the first novel I owned that wasn't a hand-me-down; I've read the thing more times than I care to guess.

Mix theme? Dreaming.

(Heh. I can come up with two songs for the mix just off the top of my head, one by Frou Frou and one by BT. Maybe I can do the whole thing... but ask me in the morning 'cause right now I'm quite zonked.)
Apr. 21st, 2006 05:05 pm (UTC)
Man, I want a smoke signal from a close friend. Hah, you kill me. That was brilliant.

Also, did you come up with a full mix? I have that Frou Frou song, and I'll definitely stick it in mine. I'm actually really excited about this mix theme. Out of curiosity, is your BT the wone where he remixes that song by Sarah McLachlan? I think I have that one on CD somewheres.

1) Sour Jelly Bellys
2) Kittys!
3) Singing along *really* loud to the songs on the radio while driving
4) The satisfied feeling of having a full tummy, a full gas tank, and a (relatively) full bank account
5) Movies. Of all types, shapes, and sizes. Bruce Campbell movies (esp. "Evil Dead 2"). M. Night Shyamalan movies. Kevin Smith movies. Jason Lee movies. Bruce Willis movies. Zombie movies. Scary movies. Serious movies. Movies where shit gets blowed up right good. Episodes of "Mystery Science Theater 3000". Funny movies. Episodes of "Firefly". Episodes of "SeaQuest DSV" (shut up!). Episodes of "Lost". Episodes of "The X-Files".

I could go on for a while :)
Apr. 21st, 2006 04:53 pm (UTC)
Man, when I'm upset, any movie that has shit blowin' up real good is on my list of favorites. Including V for Vendetta and I, Robot. Although, Equilibrium is pretty good for that too, because Christian Bale pretty much just mows people down. I should watch and count how many people he shoots dead, how many he hits dead, and how many he kills with his shiny little samurai sword.

Sandy's top 5
Things which make me feel better without fail:
1. Really expensive chocolate.
2. Babies and small children. It's hard to be upset when you're holding a baby or playing stupid games with two year olds, at least when they are nice children not the holy terrors that you meet in the grocery store.
3. A really good book that I stay up way too late reading because I can't put it down.
4. Vacations. Getting up and going somewhere, and leaving all of my work and stress behind.

1. Sunshine
2. Hallelujah by Rufus Wainwright
3. Reading a good book outside when it's cool and sunny
4. Cherry Blossom Color Season from that Katamari game
5. Sleeping on fresh sheets (sheets that have been washed with yummy smelling fabric softener make it even better)

xD My list is pretty boring and stupid, but those things make me happy without fail... Maybe they'll work for you?
Apr. 21st, 2006 10:59 pm (UTC)
1) Cheese.
2) Scrubs on DVD
3) Tickle battles! :D
4) Bubble baths
5) "The Best Party Ever" by The Boy Least Likely To (seriously, if you listen to that album, rainbows will shoot from your ears.)

Mix theme: Oh! The Places You'll Go (because Dr. Suess is awesome.)
